Designed in response to requests from pilots of the original (36,000kV) Firefly motors we've created the Firefly 40 - a faster version of the same winning design, available in two versions - (1) standard plugs with silicone wires and PCB solder pads on the motors OR (2) Ultralight - with no plugs and magnet wire that goes straight from the motor windings to your flight controller, saving lots of weight and making this the lightest 702 motor in the world.

By chosing the magnet wire version you can save an total of 0.62g on your build, not to mention the additional weight savings due to trimmed motor wire length and a plugless flight controller. When it comes to tiny motors with extremely high power-to-weight ratios like this one, fractions of a gram make a huge difference. These are very powerful motors, and were designed for ultralight builds, where they really shine.

Tiny Whoop Project Topspin motors mark a turning point in the innovation of the Tiny Whoop recipe. Here are the highlights:

ULTRALIGHTWEIGHT
Reducing the weight farthest from the CG (center of gravity) also makes changes to the aircraft's attitude easier, leading to less finicky PID tunes and less thrust necessary to quickly adjust your aircrafts position or orientation.
Smooth, Powerful, Responsive.
Due to a lighter bell swinging less rotational mass, Project Topspin motors reach a slightly higher maximum thrust, and can achieve this higher thrust more quickly. Faster transient response is what gives your aircraft the responsive POP you need to make a lightning correction, snap into a turn, save a dive or scream off the launchpad.

YES, THAT'S A LOCKING SHAFT
One of Project Topspin's most significant advancement is the world's first un-slippable LOCKING SHAFT. The key and keyhole mechanism means that slipped shafts are a thing of the past. My god I can't tell you how good it feels to say that.
This innovation took years of attempts, and even after a manufacturable mechanism was developed lots of delays and challenges arose. The final result is this perfectly balanced ultralight shaft that fits into the motor bell like a key in a lock.
